Diphyllobothrium Spp.: Diphyllobothrium Latum and other related parasites are commonly known as broad fish tapeworms. They are flatworms. These parasites cause a food poisoning ailment known as Diphyllobothriasis in humans.
Like Anasakiasis, this food poisoning ailment is also occurs due to the consumption of infected raw or undercooked sea food. Anyone can be affected by this food poisoning ailment. Though some of the infected individuals do not show any symptoms, others may show few of these following symptoms of this food poisoning ailment like vague, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, unexpected weight loss, loss of appetite, fatigue, dementia, and numbness or tingling sensation.
In most cases of this food poisoning type, the Diphyllobothriasis patients will be treated as outpatients. But in some cases, the condition of patients may reach critical level. Then hospitalization of those patients will be required. There, surgical treatment can be given to them to cure them from this type of food poisoning.
