Food Poisoning Bacterium: Salmonella

Salmonella: This bacterium is a close relative to Escherichia Coli. It is notorious for causing typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and salmonellosis – food poisoning ailment. It harms both humans and other animals. This bacterium can be found in poultry products, raw meet, raw unclean vegetables, polluted water and unpasteurized dairy products. It is also found in the gut and feces of both animals and humans.

Salmonella is considered as the second most common cause of food poisoning. The symptoms such as fever, vomiting, severe stomach pain and diarrhea may show up within a few hours of bacteria infection or take 2 more days. In some cases, especially if the infected individual is a child or an aged one, this infection can be deadliest. The symptoms of this food poisoning type may keep showing up to 3 – 4 weeks and lead to health complications.
